Siena College names students to Fall 2013 Dean's List.

Many Stonehill College students will be spending their spring break week helping those in need as part of the school's H.O.P.E. Alternative Spring Break Program. The following local residents will be traveling the week of March 9th to Arizona where they will be volunteering at the Andre House of Hospitality, a ministry to the homeless and poor populations in Phoenix.

The SUNY Geneseo chapter of the Golden Key International Honour Society recently inducted students into the organization during a campus ceremony. Juniors or seniors with a grade point average that places them in the top 15 percent of their class are eligible for membership. Inductees from this area include:

Loyola University Maryland has announced the members of its fall 2013 Dean's List. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits. The following local students have achieved this honor:

To be eligible, a student must have completed at least four semester units and have an academic average of 3.6 (based on a 4.0 scale) for the semester.

The following local students were named to the fall 2013 dean's list at SUNY Buffalo State. To qualify for the dean's list, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours.

The College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y., today announced that 811 students have been named to the Dean's List for the fall 2013 semester. Full-time students who complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and achieve a semester grade-point average of at least 3.5 with no grades of D, F, Incomplete or Pass/Fail are eligible for the Dean's List.

The State University of New York at Potsdam recently awarded baccalaureate and master's degrees to 158 students. The SUNY Potsdam graduates were awarded their degrees in December 2013.

Local college students studying at Hudson Valley Community College were inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the international academic honor society for two-year institutions of higher learning. The State University of New York at Potsdam has awarded scholarships, grants and awards to 1,047 students for the 2013-14 academic year. These accomplished SUNY Potsdam undergraduate and graduate students were recognized for their achievements with support for their educational experience.

A record number of SUNY Oneonta freshmen spent their first full day in Oneonta volunteering in the community. New students moved into their residence halls on Sunday, Aug. 25, and 202 of them participated in the college's sixth annual Freshman Service Day the next day.

Approximately 1,100 new students, selected from more than 12,000 applicants, began their studies at SUNY Oneonta this fall. Classes began on Wednesday, Aug. 28. The SUNY Oneonta Class of 2017 is exceptionally talented and diverse, said Roger Sullivan, the college's associate vice president for enrollment management. The freshman class has an average high school grade-point average of 91 and an average combined math and critical reading SAT score of 1135. Acceptances of AALANA (African American, Latino, Asian and Native American) students were up 11.3% this year, and for the first time, AALANA students accounted for 1 in 5 new freshmen and transfer students.
