Orientation begins for the Class of 2017 on Thursday, August 29.

Each summer at Colgate University, about 150 students conduct serious research in fellowships that allow them to work closely with faculty for eight to ten weeks on projects of common interest, and across disciplines.

The College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y., today announced that 812 students have been named to the Dean's List for the spring 2013 semester. Full-time students who complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and achieve a semester grade-point average of at least 3.5 with no grades of D, F, Incomplete or Pass/Fail are eligible for inclusion on the Dean's List.

Loyola University Maryland has announced the members of its spring 2013 Dean's List. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits. The following local students have achieved this honor:

The following local residents were named to the Dean's List at Ithaca College for the spring 2013 semester.

The following students from Colgate University were recipients of the Dean's Award for academic excellence during the 2013 spring term at Colgate University. To be eligible for the Dean's Award, a Colgate student must achieve a minumum 3.30 average while enrolled in at least four courses.

The State University of New York at Potsdam recently named 827 students to the President's List, in recognition of their academic excellence in the Spring 2013 semester. The SUNY Potsdam students have been honored for earning top marks by Interim President Dr. Dennis L. Hefner.

Area students were recently named to the President's List for outstanding academic achievement during the spring 2013 semester at SUNY Canton. "Congratulations to our President's List students for the Spring Term 2013! The Provost, deans, faculty and I are very proud of the way you applied your best efforts to the semester's coursework," said SUNY Canton Acting President Joseph C. Hoffman. "The work ethic and the enthusiasm for learning you develop here at the College will serve you well in your professional careers after graduation." To receive President's List honors, full-time students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Several local students were part of the 59th graduating class at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. The class of 2013 is the largest in the history of the college at 2,333 students.

Coastal Carolina University welcomes the Class of 2017. Over 2,200 first-year students have enrolled in CCU for the Fall 2013 semester.

A total of 45 SUNY Oneonta students received 2013 Senior Service Awards recognizing their commitment to volunteerism. Seniors who completed at least 350 hours of service through the college's Center for Social Responsibility and Community (CSRC) were recognized during a reception on May 17. To be eligible for the Dean's List at St. Lawrence University, a student must have completed at least four semester units and have an academic average of 3.6 (based on a perfect 4.0 scale) for the semester.
